SHVUT AMI
INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR RUSSIAN JEWS
HELPING RVSSIANS WHO HAPPEN TO HAVE BEEN BORN JEWISH, LEARN TO BECOME JEWS, WHO HAPPEN TO HAVE BEEN BORN IN RUSSIA.
Since 1978, through the efforts of our Russian-born staff, Shvut Ami has helped thousands of Russian immigrants integrate into Israel’s society. Our unique programs, conducted by veteran Russian immigrants in the Russian language, build a lasting bond with fellow new olim which enhances their connection to the land and people of Israel.
In Israel, Shvut Ami cares for the new Russian immigrants through its:
> Leadership-training program for over 100 Russian-born new immigrants
> Branches in Netanya, Rechovot, Beersheba and Tiberias
> Jewish Heritage Retreat Seminars for families
> Educational tours and lectures in locations throughout Israel
In the former USSR, Shvut Ami’s programs reach out to Jews in St. Petersburg, Riga, Moscow, Tbilisi, Novosibirsk, Munkascz and several other cities:
> Russian Jewish educators, trained at Shvut Ami, teach basic Judaism and prepare fellow Jews for aliyah.
> Jewish books in Russian translation and cassettes on Jewish culture in Russian (published by Shvut Ami) are sent from Israel.
